JACKETS AND DOWN JACKETS

We clean without letting the down clump, then fluff it back up.

We treat the down filling, the membrane shell and the fur collar separately.

The work we do.

  • We check the label, filling and shell fabric.
  • We pre-treat the collar, cuffs and pockets.
  • We choose the method to suit the shell and filling.
  • We dry under control and restore the down’s loft.

We accept these items.

  • Down and synthetic-filled jackets
  • Jackets with a membrane shell (Gore-Tex type)
  • Models with a fur collar or fur lining
  • Jackets with clumped down and lost shape
  • Garments soiled on the collar, cuffs and pocket edges
  • Jackets being prepared for end-of-season storage

We check the item.

Our courier collects your item. We check the material, stains and damage at our workshop. We choose a suitable method and explain the chances of stain removal and any risks. We confirm the final price after inspection.

We quote separately for restoration.

  • We use no softener or silicone-based product on a membrane shell — they block the pores and the fabric stops breathing.
  • Renewing the water-repellent finish is a separate job: at inspection we say whether it suits the shell and quote it separately.
  • If the fur collar and lining detach, we remove and treat them separately; if not, we cover and protect them.
  • Down clumps mostly because drying was left unfinished — we dry in stages and break the clumps up.
  • Open seams, torn lining and zip work are done by our tailor; we quote these separately at intake.
  • If you also have a wool or cashmere coat, see the Coat cleaning page — we take both items in one order.
  • A jacket cleaned at the end of the season (March-April) and stored dry does not smell or yellow; in October-November the queue is longer.
  • You can check the stage your order is at on the Track order page.

How we do it.

  1. We check the filling and the shell.

We check the label, the seam lines and whether the filling is down or synthetic, and identify a membrane shell. We test the colour on a hidden seam and treat greasy soil on the collar, cuffs and pocket edges locally with SEITZ and BÜFA products.

  2. We pick the method for the shell.

We usually wet-clean down filling and membrane shells in the 30 kg PURUS: the programme, temperature and drum action are set to suit the filling and the detergent is dosed by Brightwell. We use no softener. If the shell is water-sensitive or the stain is oil-based, we clean in the closed-loop Realstar SYSTEMK4 with SOLVONK4 solvent.

  3. We dry it and restore the loft.

We dry at a low temperature in stages: if the filling does not dry through, smell and mould follow. We break up any remaining clumps by hand, shape the shoulder, collar and cuff line with steam and air on the PONY, and pack the jacket after a final check.

We answer your questions.

Can a down jacket be washed at home?

In a home machine the filling shifts to one side and drying stays unfinished, so the down clumps and starts to smell. We clean in a 30 kg machine without cramming the jacket and dry in stages until the filling is dry through.

If the down has clumped, can it be restored?

Usually yes: the clumps open up during cleaning and controlled drying, and we break up the rest by hand. If the filling has been left half-dry several times or the down is broken, the original loft may not come back fully — we say so at inspection.

Will you damage a membrane (Gore-Tex type) shell?

We identify a membrane shell and set the programme accordingly: low temperature, gentle mechanical action and a product free of softener and silicone. Softener blocks the membrane’s pores, so we never use it.

Do you renew the water-repellent finish?

The finish weakens with wear and cleaning. Renewing it is a separate job: at inspection we say whether the shell suits it and quote it separately. On an unsuitable shell the finish sits in patches, so we do not force it.

What do you do with the fur collar and lining?

We remove detachable fur and treat it separately, because fur needs a different regime. Fur that does not detach is covered and protected. Natural fur takes a long time to dry, so these jackets need a little more time.

What if the jacket still smells?

The smell usually comes from moisture left inside the filling and from perspiration. We treat the collar and underarms separately and keep drying until the filling is dry through. If the smell remains, we do not hand the jacket back: we find the cause and treat it again.

When in the season is it best to bring a jacket in?

The best time is the end of the season, March-April: stored clean and dry, a jacket does not smell or yellow and stays ready for next winter. In October-November everyone brings theirs in at once and the turnaround stretches. All four branches accept jackets: 28 May (Kövkəb Səfərəliyeva 19A), Nərimanov (Əlicabbar Orucəliyev 126), Ağ Şəhər (Süleyman Vəzirov 28c/1) and Elmlər (Fətəli Xan Xoyski 14). 28 May, Nərimanov and Elmlər open Mon-Sat 10:00-19:00 and Sunday 12:00-18:00; Ağ Şəhər opens daily 10:00-22:00. If coming in is inconvenient, our courier collects and returns the jacket — *3338 or +994 55 433 33 38.
