SHOE DYEING

We match the colour to the shoe’s own shade.

We dye leather, suede, nubuck and sneakers to suit the material.

The work we do.

  • We check the material and old finish layer.
  • We clean the surface and prepare it for dye.
  • We match the colour with a scanner and test it.
  • We dye in layers and seal with a protector.

We accept these items.

  • Leather shoes with faded colour
  • Suede and nubuck with flattened nap
  • Sneakers that have lost their colour
  • Pairs scuffed on the toe and heel edge
  • Stains that leave a mark after cleaning

We check the item.

Our courier collects your item. We check the material, stains and damage at our workshop. We choose a suitable method and explain the chances of stain removal and any risks. We confirm the final price after inspection.

We quote separately for restoration.

  • Dyeing and restoration are different jobs: dyeing brings back the colour, restoration the shape and parts.
  • If heel, sole or stitching work is also needed, see the Shoe restoration page — we combine both jobs in one order.
  • We mask the sole, logo and stitch line so the dye stays off them.
  • On suede and nubuck we lift the nap and apply colour along its direction.
  • We treat worn areas on the toe and heel edge separately.
  • For a full colour change we first test on a hidden area and show you the result.
  • If two pairs need to match, we work on them together.

How we do it.

  1. We check the material and measure the colour.

We identify leather, suede, nubuck or textile and check the old finish layer and label. We pick the shoe’s own shade with an NCS and COLOURLOCK colour scanner and test it in a hidden area.

  2. We prepare and mask the surface.

We remove the old cream and silicone layer and prepare the surface for dye. We mask the sole, logo, metal parts and stitch line, and lift the nap on suede and nubuck.

  3. We dye in layers and seal it.

We apply colour in thin layers and dry each one fully — a single thick layer cracks. We finish with a fixative and protector, then polish with Saphir Médaille d’Or products.

We answer your questions.

Can suede shoes be dyed?

Suede and nubuck can be dyed, but the work differs from leather: we lift the nap rather than press it and apply colour in thin layers. Where the nap is worn away completely, some colour difference can remain — we tell you in advance.

Will the colour rub off afterwards?

We apply thin layers, dry each one and finish with a fixative and protector, so the colour does not rub off in normal wear. Friction points such as the toe, heel edge and flex crease can show wear over time; that area can be reworked later.

Can the colour be changed completely?

Going darker is usually possible; going from dark to light does not work on every material. We check the material and existing colour, test on a hidden area and show you the result — we do not start without your approval.

Do you dye sneakers?

The leather and synthetic-leather parts of sneakers can be dyed, while the midsole and rubber outsole are treated with a separate product. On mesh and woven panels the colour soaks into the material, so the result is less even than on leather — at intake we explain what we will do to each part.

Can a stain be dyed over?

We first try to remove the stain; dye does not remove the stain itself, it only evens out the colour. If the stain has soaked into the material, a difference can remain even after dyeing — we say so at inspection.

How long does it take?

Dyeing takes longer than cleaning because each layer has to dry fully. The time depends on the material and how much colour has been lost; we give you a ready date at intake and let you know when the pair is done.

Which branch should I bring them to?

All four branches accept footwear: 28 May (Kövkəb Səfərəliyeva 19A), Nərimanov (Əlicabbar Orucəliyev 126), Ağ Şəhər (Süleyman Vəzirov 28c/1) and Elmlər (Fətəli Xan Xoyski 14). 28 May, Nərimanov and Elmlər open Mon-Sat 10:00-19:00 and Sunday 12:00-18:00; Ağ Şəhər opens daily 10:00-22:00. If coming in is inconvenient, our courier collects and returns the pair — *3338 or +994 55 433 33 38.
